Job Summary

The General Manager is an executive responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and operations of Fusemachines Nepal. This role bridges local execution with global company objectives — overseeing engineering/delivery, HR, finance, and admin functions — while serving as the primary liaison between the Nepal branch and international leadership. The GM translates global priorities into locally executable plans, while also surfacing on-the-ground realities and opportunities back to global leadership. Success in this role requires equal comfort steering high-level strategy and getting hands-on with day-to-day execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Growth

  • Set and execute the annual business strategy, aligned with global goals.
  • Drive business development, client relationships, and revenue growth initiatives.
  • Identify new opportunities and partnerships that support company-wide growth.

Operations & Finance

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across all departments, ensuring efficient resourcing, prioritization, and budgeting.
  • Own the branch P&L, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Establish operational KPIs and drive continuous process improvement.

People & Culture

  • Lead and mentor the local leadership team; drive culture, engagement, and talent development.
  • Own succession planning and support performance management across the branch.

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with Nepal's labor, tax, and corporate governance regulations.
  • Oversee risk management, workplace safety, and organizational compliance.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as one of the key points of contact with global leadership, reporting regularly on performance and strategic progress.
  • Manage relationships with clients, government bodies, and industry stakeholders; represent Fusemachines Nepal externally.

Education & Experience

Education: Bachelor's degree required (Business, Management, Engineering, or Computer Science); Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years total experience, including 5+ years in senior/general management.
  • Proven P&L ownership and experience scaling multi-departmental operations.
  • Background in technology, AI, or IT services strongly preferred; familiarity with software delivery models is a plus.
  • Experience reporting to or coordinating with global/international teams across time zones.

Certifications (preferred): Leadership/management certification.

Job Specification (Skills & Attributes)

  • Strong strategic, financial, and business acumen — balancing short-term execution with long-term vision.
  • Proven leadership: team building, mentoring, and change management across cross-functional teams.
  • Solid grasp of Nepal's labor and compliance landscape.
  • Excellent communication (English & Nepali) and stakeholder management, from C-level to on-ground staff.
  • High integrity, accountability, and a hands-on, execution-focused mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort operating under ambiguity.
  • Comfortable working flexible hours across time zones and with travel as needed.
